PANCHA MAHABHOOTA – THE FIVE ELEMENTS

The pure incense at yoga festivals

In Vedic culture, it is believed that the entire universe is composed of five primary elements known as the Pancha Mahabhoota or Pancha Tattva. "Pancha" means five, and "mahabhoota" means elements. These five elements are:

Agni (Fire), Prithvi (Earth), Vayu (Wind), Jala (Water), Akash (Space or Ether)

These elements not only form the universe but also constitute our human body. They operate at a fundamental level, and any imbalance can impact health and life quality. For instance, an imbalance in the space element can lead to depression or other mental disorders. When the elements are out of balance, known as 'Tattva dosha', they can be harmonized through meditation and mantra practice. While it may be challenging for the average person to deeply understand and eliminate Tattva Dosha, a simple alternative is daily pacification of the tattvas, requiring just about 10 minutes. Regular practice can help maintain a balanced body and mind. The best method is to offer the five items representing the five elements to the creator of the universe. Simply offer the following five items to a deity (Shiva Linga is recommended):

  • Air: Offer an incense stick or dhoop to cleanse and protect your living space.

  • Fire: Offer a lamp (diya) to dispel darkness from life and invite knowledge.

  • Earth: Offer sandal paste (chandan) or any fruit (like banana or apple) to bring stability and grounding.

  • Akash: Offer fresh flowers to generate a loving and happy mind.

  • Jala: Offer water to nourish and sustain everyone.

At The Pure Incense Co., we embrace all religions and cultures that emphasize these fundamental life principles. We believe in equipping you with the essentials to maintain this balanced state. The more you practice staying balanced, the more you align with a yogic and Vedic lifestyle. We have thoughtfully curated a Balanced Yogic Fragrance bundle for you. Here’s what we offer in this pack and how each product benefits you:

1) Herbal Incense sticks:

Our incense sticks are of the purest quality and charcoal-free. Vedanta contains pure sandalwood and kesar (saffron). The fragrance from this incense works wonders on the mind and body.

2) Ghee Candles and Cow Ghee Diyas:

Made with 100% ghee, without wax or harmful chemicals, ghee has numerous medicinal and aromatherapy properties. According to yogic teachings, lighting a ghee lamp at home invites positivity and dispels negative energy.

You can meditate by lighting a ghee candle or diya and focusing on the lit wick. This meditation technique is known as 'Trataka'. Practicing this meditation for 15 to 20 minutes before bed with a ghee lamp (diya) significantly improves sleep quality.

3) JapMala (108 beads):

According to Ayurveda, there are 108 marma points (vital life force points) in our body. This is why all mantras are chanted 108 times, as each chant represents a journey from our material self to our highest spiritual self. Each chant is believed to bring you one step closer to the divine within. The number 108 also holds significance in meditation. There are said to be 108 styles of meditation. In pranayama, the yogic practice of breath regulation, it is believed that if one can be calm enough to breathe only 108 times in a day, enlightenment will be achieved. Additionally, an average person breathes 21,600 times in a 24-hour period, with half being solar energy (daytime breaths) and the other half lunar energy (nighttime breaths). 100 multiplied by 108 equals 10,800. In Kriya yoga, the maximum number of repetitions per session is said to be 108. Our body contains seven chakras, starting at the top of the head and ending at the base of the spine. Each chakra is an energy center within our body. The heart chakra, located at the chest's center, is associated with transformation and love energy. Opening this energy center is believed to lead to joy and compassion. The heart chakra is said to have 108 nadi (energy lines) converging to form this energy center. Lastly, 108 is a Harshad number, an integer divisible by the sum of its digits. In Sanskrit, 'harsa' means "joy" and 'da' means "give", translating Harshad to "joy giver". Use this Mala to perform Japa 108 times with any chant or pure name that completes you.

4) Herbal Dhoop Cones:

Dhoop sticks promote spiritual wellness, holistic calmness, improve sleep quality, and act as a natural relaxant. They burn steadily, emitting a serene fragrance that helps relax the mind and create a peaceful environment in your home or office. Their aroma also enhances focus during meditation or any significant activity requiring undivided attention. Most of our products come with holders. We have covered all the bases with the pure incense gift pack, which we believe will aid your yogic journey.
